The 8 Daily Rituals of Thyroid-Healthy Living
There is no quick fix or cure for hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s, but there are several things we can do to manage our illness. In so doing, we can manage the symptoms that can accompany our disease and its impact on our lives.
There can be an overwhelming amount of information, misinformation, and conflicting information to sift through as thyroid patients. As your thyroid advocate and health coach, part of the service I offer is to sift through that information for you and make it more digestible. That's why I boiled these expert recommendations down to their essence and to something that could fit on an index card.
I call these tenets of thyroid-healthy living “The 8 Daily Rituals,” or The 8 Rs for short. I am living proof that the 8 Daily Rituals work, and I am one of many.

The Origin of The 8 Daily Rituals
The 8 Rs began as a compilation of recommendations that the leading thyroid experts all seemed to agree upon in regards to thyroid-healthy diet & lifestyle– a greatest-hits playlist, if you will, from people like Dr. Izabella Wentz, Dr. Alan Christianson, and my dear friend and mentor, Mary Shomon. My Functional Medicine Health Coach training further validated the 8 Rs as tenets of not just thyroid-healthy but generally healthy for anyone who wants to optimize health, prevent disease, and manage the life-altering symptoms that can come with chronic illness.
The 8 Daily Rituals were put to the test as the model for THYROID30Ⓡ, a gamified wellness app that I created and ran from 2017 to 2021 (R.I.P.) Some of you who have been on the journey with me for a while are well-acquainted with ‘The 8 Rs’ from back in those days and used them to reclaim your health and become empowered patients.
Today, we use The 8 Rs in essentially everything we do in the Thrivers’ Club. The wellness challenges, workshops, coaching calls, and content all revolve around these 8 Daily Rituals of Thyroid-healthy Living. If you’re here, there’s a good chance you’re already applying at least some of them.
