Understanding the 5 Thyroid Types
One of the biggest takeaways from my conversation with Inna was her Thyroid Types framework—a simple, eye-opening way to understand what’s really happening behind your labs.
According to Inna, each “type” reflects where the thyroid process breaks down and why labs can look “normal” even when you don’t feel well. Each type highlights a different imbalance, whether in hormone production, conversion, or utilization.
Recognizing your type can help you and your practitioner pinpoint root causes, personalize your nutrition, and take a more targeted approach to healing.

Not all thyroid patients fit into the same cookie cutter, and that’s exactly the point of Inna’s framework. By identifying your unique thyroid type, you can:
- Better understand why your labs look the way they do
- Tailor your nutrition and supplement strategy
- Identify hidden triggers that may be driving autoimmunity
- Feel empowered to ask better questions at your next doctor’s visit
This approach helps shift the focus from one-size-fits-all treatment to truly personalized thyroid care.
Nutrition, Labs, and Root Causes
One of my favorite parts of this interview was exploring the connection between labs, root causes, and everyday nutrition. Inna emphasized how nutrients like zinc and selenium are essential for converting T4 into T3—the active thyroid hormone your body can actually use. Without enough of these nutrients, that conversion process may slow down, leaving you tired and foggy even when your labs appear “normal.”
We also talked about how decision fatigue can be a real issue for thyroid patients. This sparked Inna to create ThyroLove, a comprehensive thyroid-support supplement that combines key nutrients for Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism in one formula, simplifying your daily routine.
As a quick side note, we also touched on bone health, especially for those who are dairy-free. Inna explained that nutrients like magnesium, vitamin D, and vitamin K are just as important as calcium for maintaining bone density. Optimizing thyroid function can also play a key role in protecting your bones.
Finally, we explored the emotional patterns many thyroid patients share—like perfectionism, people-pleasing, or feeling overly responsible for others. Inna described how these tendencies can keep our stress response on high alert, fueling inflammation and autoimmunity.
She reminded us that awareness, self-compassion, and rest are just as important as diet or supplements when it comes to healing. I couldn’t agree more. 💛
